Lunch For Love Explores the Incredible Legacy Love Can Build

October 5, 2017

Summary

Child Crisis Arizona held its annual fundraising luncheon, Lunch For Love, last week at the Arizona Biltmore Resort. Over 500 attendees turned out to show their support and learn more about the agency’s mission, vision, and legacy. Guests also heard personal stories about the impact the agency has had on Arizona’s children and families.

The event featured several local sponsors and a range of speakers that reflected the diversity of the community that Child Crisis Arizona serves. The program included a heartwarming video presentation as well as speeches from Torrie Taj, Child Crisis Arizona’s CEO, Child Crisis Arizona board members, foster parents, adoptive parents, kinship caregivers and one budding, 9-year-old philanthropist.

During the luncheon, the importance of the Child Crisis Arizona’s legacy emerged as a central theme. As Child Crisis Arizona prepares to celebrate its 40th anniversary in November CEO, Torrie Taj, took the opportunity to speak about the importance for the agency to not only honor its existing legacy but to build on it.

“Child Crisis Arizona is The Legacy Love Builds.” She explained. “Our work is ongoing, growing and we are determined to continue to build upon the foundation set forth by our predecessors. We will continue the fight against child abuse and neglect and work tirelessly to build upon this incredible Legacy... but we can’t do it without YOU.”

Child Crisis Arizona was not only built by love, but it is also sustained by it. The love of the founders, funders, the board of directors, volunteers, staff and community members that made 40 Years of “Safe Kids, Strong Families” possible. This is the same love that will help the organization continue to grow for the next 40 years and beyond.

“Lunch For Love, is truly a testament to the legacy that this agency has been building for the last 40 years,” concluded Board Chair, Hunter Marckwald at the close of the luncheon. “A love for the community, a love for the families they serve, and of course, a love for the children they work to keep safe. The love of those who have played a part in this agency has continued to drive our vision of 'Safe Kids, Strong Families.'"
