Celebrate the Role of Fathers

June 4, 2019

Summary

June is the time to celebrate Fathers! At Child Crisis Arizona we applaud the fathers who make a special effort to be a part of their child’s life. Like Ambrosio, father to two young children, who sits on the Parent Committee and has sat on the Policy Council for the Early Head Start program at the Phoenix early education campus.

Q: Why is it important to you to be involved in your child’s education?A: It’s my son. It’s my children. I have to know everything! I’ve got to have a say about the way the teachers work and the curriculum.

I’m really proud to be part of two groups in the school, the Parent Committee, and the Policy Council. In the first one, I participate with the teachers and other fathers to organize the many activities in the school. In the policy council, it gives me the opportunity to be nearer to the administration of the school and be part of the rules of the school. It’s more intense. They make decisions about how the school is working and how the teachers are working. We talk about the preparation of the teachers and all the personnel at the school. I’m proud to be a part of that because I know everything about the school.

Q: What do you hope your children learn from you?A: They learn a lot from the school and the teachers but from me, I hope they learn dedication. I hope they share the same love for their family.Q: What’s the best part about being a dad?A: The best part of being a dad is seeing the look every morning that is mine. When they try to say “I love you, Papi.” I love being part of their happiness when they are playing at the park or in the street. I love seeing their happiness.Q: What advice would you give to other fathers?A: To be involved in their children’s life. As a parent, you have to be the main person in their life. The more you get involved, at the same time you are teaching your children the importance of life and love. You’re able to transmit to the children love and education. They will follow the same cycle and give that to their children.
